The Ministry for Lands and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme was set up in January 2024. The Ministry spearheads the Lands Authority, the Joint Office, and the Lands Registration Agency. Besides, the Ministry oversees the implementation of the Electoral Programme.

The Core Functions of the Ministry include:

• To optimize land resources and its building resources for the economic and social development of Malta, through a comprehensive sustainable land use and property use system.
• To ensure the best use of Government land.
• To provide an effective and reliable land management system, including the issuance and guarantee of land titles and geo-spatial demarcation of land.
• To enable the full use of land and building information for better land and property management and the creation of new business opportunities.
• To formulate, implement and update plans and policies relating to the promotion of all Government property.
• To keep track of all residential, commercial and land plots in the Maltese Islands.
• To oversee the implementation of the Electoral Programme by coordinating with Ministries on the implementation of Electoral Measures and provide a continuous assessment of progress being achieved.
